Alternative Business Awards return to Leicester: A night of laughter for a great cause

The Alternative Business Awards are set to return to Leicester this June, offering a refreshing and light-hearted celebration of the local business community.
The event, which blends comedy with recognition, will take place at The Y Theatre on Wednesday, June 11.
Hosted once again by acclaimed comedian Patrick Monahan, the evening promises a blend of humour, celebration, and philanthropy.
Unlike traditional award ceremonies, the Alternative Business Awards spotlight the more amusing, heart-warming, and ‘alternative’ achievements of businesses and individuals across the region.
Organised by Big Difference Company – the charity best known for producing Leicester Comedy Festival and The UK Kids’ Comedy Festival – the event serves as a vital fundraiser to support the charity’s year-round community work. Funds raised go toward projects that harness the power of laughter to improve wellbeing, support young people, and engage diverse communities.
The ceremony has been made possible thanks to the continued support of associate sponsors ER Recruitment Ltd and Red Monkey Play, whose backing enables the event to grow in popularity year after year. Niche Magazine has also supported the event for the third year as media partner.
Public nominations for the awards will be opening soon, giving attendees and supporters the chance to spotlight their favourite funny colleagues, team moments, or business quirks. Categories will be announced in the coming weeks.
Tickets are now available to the public, priced at £22 each or £40 for a pair.
