Leicestershire musical talent to be given masterclasses

Leicestershire music artists are being given the opportunity to take part in a four-month long development programme.

Project LIVE, hosted at 2Funky Music Café will deliver free workshops, industry masterclasses, professional recording sessions and live performances for those producing work across Black music genres.

Vijay Mistry, 2Funky Arts Director, commented: “Project LIVE is the first step to a more professional music career.

"We have uncovered so many talented artists locally and it is always exciting to see their rapid progression. Artists become more confident and polished by the end showcase.”

The project, supported using public funding by Arts Council England, is open to singers and rappers, aged 18+ from Leicester & Leicestershire, creating music across Black music genres and will work across musical styles such as hip-hop, soul, grime, jazz, funk, reggae and afrobeats.

Led by Musical Director Lisa Millett, who has featured as a vocalist on Ministry of Sound and trained at Royal Academy of Music, artists will receive ome-to-one mentoring, music industry masterclasses, networking, recording sessions, performance opportunities with local festivals, radio exposure, and collaborations with a live, professional band.
