Laser battles and "skill issues": My epic (and hilarious) adventure at Laser Quest Leicester.
If you’re looking to dive into a high-energy sci-fi adventure without leaving town, this new laser quest spot is the place to be.
I recently visited with my siblings, fully prepared to dominate. Well, as prepared as you can be with zero prior experience and a competitive family.
Parking was a bit tight with only 4-5 spaces right outside, but there is also a public car park opposite the venue. For birthday parties, they have a drop-off system where only the birthday child(ren) can stay, accompanied by up to two additional people. This ensures that parking is managed smoothly for everyone.
From the moment we stepped inside, the venue felt like a step into another world. The waiting area was filled with space-themed decor that set the tone for the adventure ahead, with a fun arcade lineup of games to pass the time: racing simulators, zombie shooters, air hockey, and table football. There was also a choice of refreshments, with a choice of canned or hot drinks, snacks and slushies. It was impossible to feel bored while we waited for our game to begin.
With two spacious party rooms and plenty of arcade games, it’s also the perfect spot for kids’ birthday parties or group events, clearly designed with fun in mind.
I was really impressed with how polite and helpful the staff were, kindly guiding us through. The staff were fantastic, polite, welcoming, and incredibly helpful in getting us set up. They took time to guide us through the process, making sure we were comfortable with the gear and even went out of their way to help us stow our belongings securely so we could focus fully on the game. Their attention to detail and friendliness really set a positive tone.
Walking into the arena felt like stepping straight into a sci-fi movie or a first-person shooter video game. The arena layout was impressive, designed with plenty of strategic cover to duck behind. The lighting, sound effects, and futuristic decor made it feel like we’d been transported to another galaxy. Every corner offered new strategic spots to shield yourself from opponents – or to plan the perfect ambush.
I was confident I’d master the game quickly, but reality hit fast... literally. I kept getting tagged from every angle! Naturally, I assumed there was a technical glitch with my suit, especially after the second game went much the same way. When I asked my siblings about it, they could barely contain their laughter before responding with a casual: “Sounds like a skill issue.” I guess the “faulty suit” theory wasn’t holding up, but it sure added to the fun.
All in all, this laser quest venue was an absolute blast, and I couldn’t recommend it more for anyone seeking a high-energy, immersive group experience.
With its sci-fi atmosphere, expertly designed arena, and friendly staff, it’s ideal for parties, family outings, or friendly rivalries.
And as for me? I’ll definitely be back. Because now I have a “skill issue” to work on and a rematch to plan!
