When it comes to creating unforgettable culinary experiences, Black Chilli stands out as a beacon of authentic Indian flavours and exceptional hospitality in Leicestershire.

This premier Indian catering company – part of Winstanley House and The City Rooms – is the brainchild of Head Chef Rishi Kainth, whose diverse culinary journey and passion for North Indian cuisine have shaped the heart and soul of Black Chilli.

The story behind Black Chilli

At Black Chilli, every dish tells a story. From traditional classics to innovative fusion creations, their menu is a celebration of Indian culinary heritage, crafted with precision and love.

"Our food is more than just a meal; it’s an experience," says Rishi.

With a state-of-the-art kitchen capable of catering for over 500 guests at Winstanley House and 200 at The City Rooms, Black Chilli ensures every event – from intimate gatherings to grand weddings – is elevated by their impeccable service and cuisine.

Meet Rishi Kainth: The man behind the magic

Rishi Kainth’s journey into the culinary world is as vibrant and rich as the dishes he creates. Born in Britain, Rishi’s love for North Indian cuisine is deeply influenced by his Gujarati roots and Kenyan heritage.

"My journey started at Hinckley College, where I honed my skills and passion for cooking."

His first professional role at Leicester’s renowned Indian chain restaurant, Sakonis, ignited his drive for excellence in fast-paced kitchens.

Later, he co-founded Khazana, a family-owned vegetarian buffet restaurant in Birmingham, where he achieved the milestone of writing and publishing his own cookbook.

Upon returning to Leicester, Rishi turned his attention to teaching Indian cooking at Leicester College and working as a private chef for exclusive dinner parties. His culinary expertise took a new turn in 2010 when he co-founded Satya restaurant.

Managing two bustling kitchens and catering for events at prestigious venues like The City Rooms allowed Rishi to refine his craft and build a stellar reputation.

By 2017, Rishi had become the Executive Chef for Asian weddings at both The City Rooms and Winstanley House, a role he continues to embrace with pride and passion.

Crafting culinary experiences through Indian catering

Under Rishi’s leadership, Black Chilli’s team has grown to include specialist chefs who excel in various styles, from Punjabi and Gujarati to Indo-Chinese.

"We prepare all our food freshly, in-house, using only the finest ingredients," says Rishi.

Customer involvement is key to the Black Chilli experience. “I’m very hands-on when it comes to helping clients choose their menus,” Rishi explains.

Whether accommodating family recipes, adjusting dishes to suit preferences, or arranging personalised tastings, Black Chilli’s commitment to excellence ensures each client feels valued and celebrated.

Beyond the plate

Black Chilli is more than just a catering company – it’s a partner in creating memories. Whether it’s a wedding, corporate event, or private celebration, Black Chilli transforms occasions into extraordinary experiences through their dedication to quality, flavour, and service.
