Waterside pubs and restaurants in Leicestershire

Summer is just around the corner!

Here are some of our favourite pubs around Leicestershire with waterside views.


It might not be a great weather forecast for this weekend, but the sun has often peaked through the clouds defying the weather reporters this last week.


So, get your suncream and sunglasses on in anticipation for a lovely weekend by the water.


You might even be able to book in ready to watch it coming home on Sunday at 8pm when England v Italy. Check with each establishment to see if they're showing the game and if they have any tables left.


Pillings Boat House Restaurant & Bar’s is a beautiful spot to sit on their wide decking and watch boats go through the harbour. The view from the restaurant refreshing and extraordinary, with a seasonal cuisine.

The Waterside Inn, built originally in 1795, is located in an amazing location on the Soar River/Mountsorrel Lock 50, Grand Union Canal. A lovely environment, family friendly and welcoming to dogs, regardless of the weather. Enjoy a drink, or select from a selection of homemade meals, all of which have been freshly cooked using local produce.

The Navigation Inn serves a large choice of ales, lagers and cider and a restaurant which serves freshly prepared handmade food at a fair price. The Navigation Inn is a historic canal tavern. The beer garden sits right by the river and has wonderful views and it’s a fantastic place to spend your Sunday afternoons.

Foxton Locks Inn is a country pub and restaurant on the foot of the historic Grand Union Canal stairway with 10 locks, the longest set of locks in the United Kingdom. The charming inn is the perfect to have a drink and some delicious food while enjoying Foxton Locks Country Park's history and beauty.

At the end of May 2019, The Moorings was opened after major renovations in Barrow upon Soar. It has beautiful settings next to the Soar River and lots of options to sitting outdoors and enjoy the scenery as you dine with them. This riverbank pub is ideal if you want to have a stroll in the countryside of Leicestershire and afterwards have a bite to eat, as there are some wonderful spots to explore.

In the hub of De Montfort University campus, the Soar Point a great pub. The gorgeous view from the outside terrace draws both students and adults. A fantastic location to unwind and have a pint with views of ducks floating along the Grand Union Canal.

The pub in Loughborough has been well positioned on the canal with plenty of outside seats to see boats and ducklings passing by, walk along the canal and soak up the sun.
